DOCKS/LIFTS - SMALL ENGINE PARTS/REPAIRS

Dalton Sports & Repair

Just to tell you a little bit about us I will start at the beginning.  We started this business, my business partner and I, in October of 1995.  We had been working at a local business as mechanics.  There were always those customers that needed more than their car fixed.  They would continually ask if we fixed boat motors, lawnmowers, trimmers and so on.  At the time the shop was busy enough that we never had the time. That made us start to think.  What would happen if we quit this job and opened our own small engine business?  The rest is history.  We did exactly that.  We bought an old building in town, remodeled it and started fixing.

The years rolled on and the business grew. Pretty soon there was enough business that we couldn't keep everything near the shop.  We were using space at the local lumber yard, and the city park just to have enough room for parking.  Now the old folk in town didn't want the traffic and the mayor eventually told us we had to go.

We broke ground on the new shop in August of 1999. We did everything ourselves from pouring the cement, to the plumbing, and heating.  The new shop opened on April 22, 2000.

We've made some good friends along the way that we do some work for.  The chain stores have helped us become what we are now.  Check out our friends section.  We appreciate them and all our customers for without all of you we wouldn't exist.  Thanks to you all!

DS Docks & Lifts

DS Docks & Lifts came about but wasn't really planned.  We had been fixing equipment and selling boats at the time when we noticed that there was a great need for a better design for docks and lifts.  We drew up some designs and purchased some aluminum.  Just by looking at other companies products we could see some of the things that we didn't like. Things we thought could be done better.  Now cost was going to be an issue but we figured if it was better it would be worth it.

During the first year of building docks and lifts we discovered a couple of things about our own product that we weren't so fond of.  It was time to rethink this.  We changed from webbed sides to a smooth extruded side rail because the waves would wash lake materials and plants up and they would hang from the dock.  Looks matter!  We also designed a screw jack legs that is adjustable from the top of the dock.  You never have to get wet changing your dock height again.

OUR SHOP

Our shop fixes most makes and models of lawn and garden equipment, outboard, air compressors, hand tools, (corded and battery styles) and sever brands of pneumatic tool.  We are a warranty service center for some forty plus manufacturers.  We don't stock parts for all of them but we do have access. With over 50 years of combined experience there aren't many things we can't fix.

OUR PRODUCT LINES

Although there are many lawn and garden product lines we had to choose what we were going to sell.  We chose the ones we thought had the best track record of those with the least problems.  We sell stihl, Cub Cadet, and Troybilt.  We have seen less shop time on these units, other than maintenance, than any of the other brands we have sold.
